social networks are an odd thing- i keep mine around to keep in touch with distant relatives, and old friends, but let's be honest... isn't the reason we keep facebook around, to snoop on the people we don't like as much? who hasn't logged in and been annoyed that your worst frenemy has updated with great news- her and her boyfriend are moving into a new house they just bought. great! *gross*. i've definitely had those punch in the gut reactions reading about old frenemies doing great things, but how does that explain my ridiculous pattern of logging in and checking in on these people's lives? to be even more honest, there are the people i've added who dated my boyfriend for a week before i got him; called me mean names; i never liked; and people who i just want to check in on, because how can i measure my success without knowing what i'm up against?
as much as i know this is ridiculous, and childish of me to do, i cannot stop. i read these statuses until i want to go post bitter, sarcastic, biting statuses calling them out, and fight off my physical reaction which is to squeeze their faces and say "your tattoos are stupid!". but i guess what makes me a big, responsible adult (don't make me laugh, self) is that i don't... i just read and suffer in silence. and now i can't help but wonder, who considers me a frenemy?
