i spent the last few days taking steps to green my life a bit more. i don't feel like an overly ecoconscious person, but i started a job recently and have felt so guilty for the excessive papertowel usage (i haven't bought these for myself in over two years), and paper plate usage, i've engaged in while on shift.
i started with myself... my body to be more precise. i was sitting [on the toilet], looking at my box of ob tampons beside me, cursing my tight budget for not alloting me the funds to buy organic cotton tampons, when it hit me- i've been thinking about the diva cup for years. it was time. i ordered one of those suckers, and the cutest carry pouch for it.
next i target my lunches. i got drive thru my first day at work, and was sitting there, paper and disposable cup in hand, and decided to start bringing my own lunch, every day. and i do. but when my ziploc's kept ripping when i would wash them, i invested in some cute reusable sandwich and snack bags.
lastly, my reusable spree hit my cleaning routine. now, don't get me wrong... i love my swiffers... and i use mine at least once a day, but i hate throwing away the pads, and buying new refills in plastic bottles- even if their solution smells ridiculously good. so i looked at my dear swiffer wet jet and decided i would stop soaking and hang drying those white disposable pads. finally i took the time to look up hacks, and reusable options; i ended up with reusbale, homemade pads, and amazing homemade (my home that is) vinegar refills.
while i might not be the greenest ecofeminist around, i'm trying.
